Fine Art Prints
In the early 90’s
cutting age technology in the computer and printing industries led to the
development of new and sophisticated fine art reproduction techniques. As
a result the Giclee’ (jhee-clay) print was created. Derived from the
French word “gicleur”, meaning “spray of ink”, the process begins with an
extremely detailed scan of the original artwork. It is then printed with
high-end printers using millions of droplets of ink per second sprayed
onto archival paper or canvas. This process is supervised by highly
trained technicians and professional colorists, usually artists
themselves. Proofs are sent to the artist, where the best is then
selected. The result is a beautifully exquisite and impressively elegant
fine art print. A giclee’ is the closest thing you can get to the
original!
We print small
quantities in each of our limited editions, usually 95 to 250, with an
additional 10% artist proofs (A/P)*. Each print is individually signed
and numbered by the artist, accompanied by a signed certificate of
authenticity.
*Artist’s Proof:
Prints which are the same as the editioned print but where the artist has
“remarqued” the print by hand, embellishing a portion of it, thereby
creating an “original” print.
